Check-in is from 4.00pm to 7.00pm, early check-in available on request.

Check-out is at 10.00am, late check out available by prior arrangement.

We accept payment in cash and most debit and credit cards including Visa, Mastercard and American Express.  Full payment becomes due upon check-in - we do not charge a deposit.  Please see our cancellation policy below.

CHILDREN

Children OVER the age of 12 are welcome.  Our family room (Hound Tor) can accommodate 2 adults in the main bedroom, and one child in the single bedroom (or one further adult). Prices are £30 extra per child/adult per night including breakfast.

PETS

One, well-behaved dog is welcome to stay in Sheepstor, our room located on the ground floor with a patio garden. Please see the Canine Code of Conduct below:

Canine of Conduct:

​

•  Only one, well-behaved dog allowed. 

•  Dogs only allowed for bookings of Sheepstor and must not roam the house to make sure other guests can have a dog-free stay if they wish.  

•  Dogs must be kept on leads at all times outside of the bedroom and secure patio garden. 

•  Dogs must be kept under control at all times; not all outdoor areas are dog friendly. 

•  Puppies must be declared before arrival and authorised by Rowena and Graham. 

•  With the exception of breakfast, dogs must not be left unattended. 

•  Dogs are not permitted on the beds or furniture.

•  Customers are liable to pay for any damage/extra cleaning caused by their dog. 

•  Guests are asked to be courteous and please clean up after their dogs, both inside and outside. Dog waste bins are available on site and will be pointed out on arrival. If your dog fouls within the property, please let Rowena and Graham know immediately so they can organise the site to be cleaned properly. 

•  No nuisance or annoyance to be caused to other guests or neighbours. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in immediate termination of your stay without a refund. 

•  Dogs are entirely the responsibility of the customer and they are solely responsible for their welfare.

Please note we have 2 well behaved dog who lives in our own accommodation in our private annexe adjoining the guest house.

GUEST LOUNGE

We have a lovely guest lounge available for your use.  This is normally closed at around 9pm so that guests staying in our ground floor bedroom are not disturbed.  We have a log burning stove for the colder months, and this is a lovely place to sit with a good book, look at the large wall map of Dartmoor, or to just relax and unwind.  We also have a small honesty bar in the guest lounge with a large collection of games and books to help while away the evening. If you are travelling as a group of friends/family, this is a great place to meet to plan your day.

Barnabas House is the ideal location for families wanting to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary and wishing to stay together.  Please contact us direct before making a booking.  Please note stag or hen parties are not accommodated.  Please note the cancellation policy below.

CANCELLATION POLICY

You may cancel your booking free of charge up to 14 days before 4pm on the day of check-in.  If you cancel within 14 days, you may be charged for your entire booking. However, we will always try to re-sell your room and if we are successful, you will not be charged a cancellation fee.

Cancellation Policy for Group Bookings of 3 rooms or more varies.  We reserve the right to charge a non-refundable deposit of up to 20% of the total price.  You may cancel your booking up to 30 days before the day of check-in without incurring extra fees on top of the non-refundable deposit.  If you cancel the group booking or any part of it within 30 days, you may be charged for the entire booking.

We will always endeavour to "re-sell" rooms after cancellation to save cancellation fees being incurred.

Accessibility Guide

Wheelchair ramp from car park then flat for about 8 metres then wheelchair ramp into main house. Our ground floor room (Sheepstor) is also wheelchair accessible.  The ground floor room en-suite is NOT adapted for wheelchair use, but the room and bathroom are usable with a wheelchair with the assistance of a carer. The shower has one step up into the shower and there is a grab rail available.  Handrail on ramp from car park, stairs all have handrails on the left. Rooms Hound Tor and Sharpitor are on the first floor and may be achievable for those with only slightly limited mobility. All rooms have shower enclosures except Foggintor (second floor king size) where the shower is over the bath. Sharpitor has grab rails in the shower.
